Kitesurfing in the Bay of English with Alizé Fun

We begin this enchanting kiteboarding trip in the South with an ideal spot for learning in complete safety: Baie des Anglais ! The only school in the area, Alizé Fun, will whisk you away in just a few minutes by boat along the coast (a bit of sightseeing, by the way!) to a vast expanse of shallow water, where you can stand all along the beach, giving you time to get comfortable with your kite. Then, the glide will take you soaring above the sublime white sandbars …

The most experienced riders will find plenty of space to practice jumps and tricks without obstacles . The coral reef protects the lagoon while still allowing access to the waves for more thrills and challenging sailing! Anse Michel also offers the opportunity to launch from the beach and sail from Anse au Bois to Ilet Chevalier , close to your family relaxing on the sand, your cousin windsurfing , or your children paddleboarding !

All the spots in Martinique are flat and ideally oriented to receive the best wind that sweeps across the Atlantic coast: 15 knots on average, from November to May, East/Northeast direction.

The big leagues at Pointe Faula

A little further north, once you're confident in your kiteboarding skills, you'll find the kiteboarding boulevard at Pointe Faula . The Vauclin spot, a famous Martinique spot that's considerably busier, will appeal to you if you enjoy crowds, the thrill of challenging crossings, and a more "mainland" style of kiteboarding… ;-)

Anse Trabaud, a wild spot for experienced riders

For those who prefer the challenge of a more challenging spot, but one that guarantees great waves, grab your surfboards and head to Anse Trabaud! This large, wild beach in southern Martinique is a playground that requires a bit of effort to reach via a rocky path, but it can offer you one of your best sessions on the island. To avoid gusty winds at the start, enter the water at the south end of the beach.

The hidden gem of Cape East

To return to a more tranquil setting, we continue our journey north towards Le François. Look out for the " Cap Est Resort" sign for a sharp right turn towards the hotel's beach. At the very end of a road that seems reserved for those in the know, you have to wind your way along the perimeter of the property to reach this beautiful turquoise gem, which also stretches along the coral reef.

Here, the shallow water is reassuring for beginners, while more experienced divers will find it more challenging, heading towards the Îlets du François , which can be seen from the beach. What a privilege to reach Josephine's Bath, so popular with tourists, who can only access it by more expensive and less environmentally friendly means!

A Martinique downwind run?

And to taste all these spots in one session, provided you know the coast well or are accompanied, Cap Est is an ideal starting point to link everything in a breathtaking downwind run along these picture-postcard landscapes.

And to enjoy a completely different atmosphere and different landscapes, the West of the island offers you the spots of Trois-Îlets, the Bay of Fort-de-France or Diamant , but you will have to deal with a less regular wind, dependent on the relief of the Caribbean Coast.

As for me, my kitesurfing heart remains in Cap Est, where the gentle, steady trade winds, unimpeded by any hill, offer the most delightful sessions in an idyllic setting. Be an early riser; the wind is even more exhilarating there early in the morning! ;)
